A China-led proposal covering an application guide, test items and conditions for solid-state batteries used in electric road vehicles has been accepted as a new work item at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Experts from multiple countries are expected to participate in developing the document.
Acceptance of a proposal begins standards development; it does not mean a final international standard has already been published. Common test language could help the industry compare emerging designs more consistently as solid-state battery research progresses.
